TTT 80 The Great Leap Backwards
With lockdowns continuing in the Tasman nations plus proposed vaccine passports, quarantine camps, double standards, over-policing, and censorship Australia and New Zealand are pioneering the great leap backwards. Tim Wilms and Stephen Berry outline on this week’s Trad Tasman Talk.
Breaking news this afternoon with New Zealand suffering another terrorist attack. A 32-year-old Sri Lankan national known to counter-terrorism authorities went on a stabbing spree at a West Auckland Countdown supermarket. Six shoppers were injured and he was shot dead by police 60 seconds after the attack began by police who were following him. Jacinda Ardern confirmed the terrorist was ISIS-inspired and he previously served time in prison for terror offences. It is the second terror attack in New Zealand in three years after the Christchurch massacre in March 2019. It is also the second supermarket mass stabbing in New Zealand this year following four injured after an attack at a Countdown in Dunedin.
On the covid front Victorian Premier Dan Andrews has given up on his dream of covid zero joining NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian in using vaccination targets to get out of the state’s current extended lockdown. But this essentially means New South Wales and Victoria will be locked down until November when 70-80% of the eligible population are double dosed as cases continue to rise. A Melbourne contact tracing calls centre has become an exposure site. Both Premiers have stated there will be lockouts rather than lockdowns of the unvaccinated.
Victoria and NSW Police are continuing their crackdown against anti-lockdown campaigners and activists. Leader of Reignite Democracy Australia Monica Smit remains in custody after refusing to sign bail conditions after she was charged with incitement by Victoria Police. NSW Police issued 900 fines and arrested 150 people standing outside government buildings on Tuesday morning as part of a silent protest promoted by anti-freemason personality Karen Brewer. The NSW Police however is investigating themselves after photos emerged on social media of the Mount Druitt Police station holding a party to celebrate LGBTQ Wear it Purple Day in violation of lockdown rules against gatherings.
Victoria is introducing further anti-free speech laws expanding its anti-vilification hate speech laws which include a proposed ban on Nazi symbols including the swastika. It will pass the Victorian Parliament with the Liberal Opposition expressing their support. The swastika ban has been a long time campaign of Anti-Defamation Commission Chair Dvir Abramovich who is one of Victoria’s most hysterical snowflakes offended by almost everything.
New Zealand is following Victoria who passed legislation to allow trangender and non-binary people to change the gender on their birth certificate to whatever they want without the need for surgery. In New Zealand there is a push to allow birth ceritificates to be changed to show a child has same sex parents and even to change birth certificates of foreign natons for transgender individuals who now are either residents or citizens of New Zealand.
Communist China has introduced some new social engineering nanny state policies limiting teenagers online video gaming time to three hours per week. There has also been a crackdown by the state broadcaster on the promotion of effement male musicians.
